Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack rendered him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
